WHO Donates Trauma Kits To Treat Victims Of Plateau Attacks

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has donated trauma kits for the treatment of victims of attacks in Plateau communities.

According to NAN, Musa Mahdi, WHO coordinator in Plateau, said the donation was in line with the organisation’s commitment to supporting the government in addressing humanitarian issues.

On December 24, gunmen invaded about 17 villages in Bokkos, Barkin-Ladi, and parts of Mangu LGAs and killed over 100 residents.

More than 200 houses were destroyed while many residents were left injured and displaced.

The communities have been visited by many stakeholders in the country who pledged support to the victims.

Mahdi said the kits comprised of items that could be used to attend to the health needs of displaced persons.

“This trauma kits have over 60 equipment in each of them that can be used to conduct over 200 procedures and attend to over 100 persons with severe injuries,” he said.

“We are presenting this to Plateau government to enable it respond and provide an immediate remedy to all health emergencies.”

While receiving the items, Cletus Shirkuk, commissioner for health in Plateau, expressed appreciation to the organisation and assured that the items would be utilised effectively.

Shirkuk called on groups and individuals to support the state toward meeting the humanitarian needs of the displaced persons.
